Taronga Western Plains Zoo

Taronga Western Plains Zoo is located on the outskirts of Dubbo across 300ha of bushland and is considered to be Australia’s greatest open range Zoo. The Zoo is home to over 700 animals including many endangered and exotic species including Black Rhinoceros, Sumatran Tiger and Cheetah. Taronga Western Plains Zoo is the only Zoo where you can see an African Elephant and the Greater One Horned Rhinoceros.

The Zoo has a 6km sealed circuit which is navigable by car, bike, cart or on foot. The Zoo offers bike and electric cart hire and you can also experience an amazing animal encounter and get up close with animals such as Giraffe, Lion and Tiger. A full schedule of free daily keeper presentations are also a great way to see some of the animals at feed time and learn about the different species.
